Welcome to the new homepage of Utho Ngathi – Südliches Afrika e.V.

The extent of the challenge which this project is attempting to address along with other government agencies and non-governmental organisations involved with people with disabilities is evident from the following facts:

In the Southern African region it is estimated that there are more than 12 million persons or 10 to 15 per cent of the population who are living with disabilities;
Only about 2 per cent of these people have access to the support and the intervention that they need and 90 per cent of children with mental disabilities die before the age of 5 years in Africa - this compares to a figure of around 15 per cent for children without disabilities.

We'd like to keep all members, sponsors and interested people updated on our project and inform you about our current activities in Southern Africa and Germany.
